Distribution

Distribution is a natural extension to Maritime’s primary role as a container transport services operator in the international supply chain and there are bigger synergies between container transport and distribution than at a first glance.

We are able to provide a wide range of carbon-friendly transport services and solutions to meet your distribution needs and take cost out of your supply chain. These services are straight forward, uncomplicated and above all, designed to help your business succeed.

Shared User Distribution

We are able to offer transport services on a one-way basis where your volumes complement our existing flows, charging you for loaded miles only, to reduce your transport costs and your carbon footprint too. This can provide a significant reduction in costs with similar resource guarantees to a dedicated distribution solution. As our UK distribution network grows, so too will our service capability, price advantage and your gain as our customer.

Fixed Price Distribution

Some companies prefer or require a dedicated distribution solution because of the nature of their business. We can provide a core fleet of vehicles on a fixed price basis for the life of the agreed contract up to 36 months or longer, where specialist equipment is required.

By committing to a pre-agreed cost base, you can protect your business against price rises for the duration of the contract and our completely transparent approach ensures that you have total visibility of your costs at all times.

With our model, only fuel and annual driver wage changes are variable, to avoid hedging and unnecessary, additional costs being built in at the outset. Furthermore, if you require additional resources, unless specialist equipment is involved, we can provide this on a flexible, ad-hoc basis, as required.

As one of the UK's biggest rail freight users, we are also ideally placed to provide intermodal solutions, combining wagon or trainload space with our network of trucks to provide local transport to and from all the major railheads. We will invest in swap body equipment as necessary and manage asset utilisation, costs and service performance on your behalf to provide a low cost alternative to road.

Port Centric Logistics

If you are importing products in containers, you may have chosen or are in the process of considering the arrival port as a hub for your business. The benefits can be considerable - higher container payloads, proximity to market and/or a reduction in cargo handling and inland transport.

With substantial depots at all of the major container gateways, we can provide a bespoke FTL distribution service built around your business needs, on a dedicated or shared user basis, with deliveries anywhere in mainland UK, 24/7, 365 days a year.

Peak Support

With a fleet of over 900 vehicles, we can provide you with additional horsepower to handle your peaks. If you want extra trucks and drivers, we can offer short term solutions. We can also generate even more resource, with little notice, through our unique truck purchasing policy. This ability to flex is ideal within a retail environment, for example, to cover Christmas peaks and in particular, the weeks immediately prior to and after the Bank Holidays.

Similarly, in the unfortunate event that an incumbent supplier ceases trading, we are able to provide almost immediate support to prevent your business being adversely affected. We can install highly experienced operations staff and a fleet of vehicles on site, at speed, to ensure minimal supply chain interruption.

Outsourcing

If you are considering outsourcing or changing your existing distribution arrangements, speak with us first to see how we can help. We will design a fresh, cost effective transport solution with you and deal with TUPE staff transfers and the acquisition of existing assets, seamlessly, whilst delivering all of the savings and benefits you would expect from a partnership with a market-leading transport specialist.
