During the festive period Maritime made over 13,500 deliveries a week, with one job standing out above the rest – a delivery to an Orphanage and Hospice in Lodz, Poland.
Adrianna Kwiatkowska runs The Legends Barber Shop in London and has close connections with the Children’s Home. After collecting a pallets worth of donations with her friends and family, she approached her long-term friend and employee of Maritime, Steve Parry, for help with the logistics between London and Poland.
“When Adrianna approached me, she told me all about the Orphanage and the Hospice and the fantastic work they do with young children, I thought if I asked some of Maritime’s other employees we might be able to find a few donations and top up the pallet of gifts for the children” said Steve Parry, Business Development Manager, Maritime Transport.
The cause received an overwhelming response from Maritime’s employees and customers and in the end another two pallets worth of gifts were donated along with £215 which will be used by the Hospice to help pay for the doctors treating the children.
“There are 138 children aged between 0 and 12 at the orphanage, their needs are huge and collections like these are an amazing help” explained Adrianna. “This is the third collection I’ve done for the orphanage and it’s been the biggest, exceeding all expectations!”
“Christmas
is a time for giving and when we heard about the great work both the Orphanage
and the Hospice do we wanted to help in whatever way could.” Said Alex
Williams, General Manager at Maritime. “It was agreed that Maritime would pay
for all three pallets to be delivered to Poland in time for Christmas,
hopefully helping to spread some Christmas cheer.”
