Maritime Connect with Local Community

Posted 21 Jul 2016

Maritime Transport Limited (Maritime) continue their support for local carnival and strengthen their connection with local school.

For the second year in a row Maritime have enlisted the help of the year four students at Trimley St Martin primary school to decorate shields displayed around Trimley, a village close to Maritime’s Head Office in Felixstowe.

Trimley Carnival is held each year, bringing the community together with a series of activities including a procession of floats. In the weeks leading up to the event shields are displayed throughout the village, each sponsored by a local business.

“Working with local communities is really important to us as a business and getting young people excited about transport and its possibilities is something we’re keen to continue to do”

“We approached Maritime as one of the largest businesses within our area and were delighted when they agreed to sponsor 15 shields” said Chris Wood, Trimley Carnival Committee. “The carnival looks to bring the community together and having local businesses involved really helps to do that.”

In a bid to further contribute to the community spirit the carnival aims to achieve, Maritime approached local primary school Trimley St Martin to get involved and decorate the shields on their behalf.

“Working with local communities is really important to us as a business and getting young people excited about transport and its possibilities is something we’re keen to continue to do” said Samantha Lock, Maritime Transport. “The shields the school children created with Maritime in mind were fantastic and inviting them to Head Office to look around one of our vehicles and take part in some transport themed activities was our way of thanking them for their help on this project.”
