Maritime Transport was named Road Haulier of the Year by
readers of freight publication Lloyd’s Loading List during its Global Freight
Awards last week.
More than 500 freight forwarders, shippers and industry
experts gathered at the Royal Lancaster London Hotel to attend the prestigious annual
ceremony, which recognises achievements in a variety of transport sectors. Each
year, as part of its Readers’ Vote Award, Lloyd’s Loading List asks its readers
to nominate operators that provide innovative, industry-leading solutions to
customers.
Following months of voting, Maritime made their debut
appearance at the event as a finalist alongside the five other major UK hauliers
in their category, but was fortunate enough to bring home the accolade in the
end. This comes just months after Maritime was named Road Freight Operator of
the Year for the third consecutive time at the FTA Multimodal Awards in
May.
‘We are extremely proud and honoured to have received this
award voted for by readers and our own customers, and are grateful for their
kind acknowledgement,’ stated Simon Smart, Chief Executive Officer. ‘We see
this as a recognition of the hard work that our drivers and staff have put in,
particularly in recent months whilst the industry is facing unprecedented
challenges.’
Maritime has continued to see success in what is a demanding
and ever-changing industry over the years. From humbled beginnings, the business
has grown from a 136-truck container transport operation to what is now the
UK’s largest privately-owned multimodal transport operator, covering over 126
million miles a year.
‘This achievement truly reflects the effort and commitment
from all our staff,’ said Tom Williams, Managing Director – Container
Transport. ‘Each employee plays a crucial role in the success of the business,
and we will continue to ensure we invest in them as we develop our offering and
service performance to our customers.’
